 Week 43 Oregon City, Oregon - Week 43 - October 25, 2021 - October 31, 2021

A lot of rain this week!  As a result I did a lot of organizing and cleaning up in the house and outside.

I took a pickup load of scrap metal to the recycling center and got $79 - Woo Hoo.

Cliffy, the Gutter Guy,  cam and finished putting up the gutter on the south side of the barn.  Turns out that when the barn was repaired last week, that the overhang of the barn roof turned out to be about three inches.  As a result, the gutter guards wouldn't fit unless the roof's edge was cut off.  So...there are not gutter guards, after all.

I worked a lot on  First Slope, right down at the bottom of the hill....when the big drop off starts.  There had been a big fallen /stump/tree that had filled the area.  I got all that horrible pulled up the hill to the burn spot.  It was tricky pushing the four foot lengths into position around the burn spot.  Turned out to be a nice big fire.

Here is the tree/stump that was on the ground

Here's a before and after photo of one of the two three filbert trees on the edge

Sunday evening we celebrated Bruch and Abby's birthdays.  Bruce and Vonda have been here all week helping Bev and Paul with the house and babysitting.

The kids were excited to go Trick or Treating

 Week 42 Oregon City, Oregon - Week 42 - October 18 - October 24, 2021

Bev and Jessica were gon the whole week - went to Palm Springs or somewhere to frolic with some friends.  So we had the kids a lot during that week.

We had a guy come and repair parts of the roof and horizontal boards so that gutters could be installed on the south side of the barn.  Turned out that there were lots of rotten boards that needed replacing.

We had another Family History Workshop.  It was the second one we've headed up for the Ward.  We'll have another one in January.

Another football game in Corvallis.  We sat in a different place this time.  Closer to the field, but I like being up higher better.

Sunday was the Primary Sacrament Meeting Presentation.

 Week  41Oregon City, Oregon - Week 41 - October 11 - 17, 2021

At Activity Day we asked for suggestions about things to do.

Bev bought a new mower so she can mow at The Acres

Whitney's birthday celebration

I worked in the woods, but I always work in the woods.

 Week 40 Oregon City, Oregon - Week 40 - October 4 - October 10, 2021

Apparently this wasn't a very busy week.  I think we were cleaning up after our trip and re-grouping.

Dad did go after the fig trees.  They had grown so big and tall that man of the branches were ruined in the ice storm.  Dad got some grandchildren to help him

Following are a bunch of photos I took of the hose at Goodin Acres. Bev and Paul bought it and have pulled out all of the cabinets.  hese pictures are so we can relive their pain.

Week 39 The Last week of Great River Road - Week 39 - September 27 to October 3, 2021

Sunday morning ended our short stay with my brother in Boulder, Colorado. We had a nice time the previous evening, at dinner, talking mostly about old time and family history. In the morning we had a nice breakfast and took this epic photo of brother and sister

We set off for Utah and took the interstate that goes through Grand Junction.  I had been looking forward to this route because it is a stunning drive through the mountains, and you could see the signs of fall on the hillsides.

We decided to go to Moab and visit with Paul's parents, Bruce and Vonda Louthan.  They are really great people and fun to talk to.  They say that they are planning to go on another mission soon....to Nauvoo.

Jan told us about a cutoff at the little ghost town - or maybe no town at all anymore- of Cisco that takes you to Moab without going on the interstate,  It was a fantastic drive, and I think I took a "puzzle worthy" photograph along the upper Grand Canyon.

Monday morning we headed north for Orem to visit with Ivan and family. On the way we stopped in Green River to visit the Green River Museum.  It was worth the admission.

We got to Ivan just after the boys got home from.  It was so good to visit with them.  WE went out to dinner at a ramen noodle place and picked p Evan to go along with us.

Tuesday morning, after a late departure, we headed for Oregon.  Spent the night at a rest area just east of Ontario.  Got home late after.. Happy.  Good to be home!

I spent the rest of the week working in the woods, cutting down trash trees and bushes and burning them.  Holley trees are the worse!
