 Oregon City, Oregon- Week 24 - June 14 to June 20, 20-21

Started the week with getting the second Covid-19 dose into Magnus and Archer got his first.  Went to Walgreens, and it was pretty simple - much simpler than when we went to the Convention Center.

Magnus likes to cook.  He had watched a video of making chicken waffles using a drumstick with the bone in.  After a series of pretty traumatic missteps, he finally got a "finished" one which was really tasty.  We tried them the next day for breakfast but put a slice of ham in the waffle rather than chicken.....bacon would be good too.

While working in Sector 1, I noticed a very tall and big fir tree that I'd never noticed before.  It is a Grand Fir - identified because there are still branches on the ground from the ice storm.

The boys helped me Finish Sector 1...but I have gone ahead and started pulling and burning branches on the  Western Slopes.   need to get the branches up and out of the way so I can spray the nettles and blackberries.

Magnus helped Dad change the blades on the Gravely

Magnus and Tyler wanted to go fishing down at the Cove (Lagoon???)

Magnus and Jude explored the West Dump and found many treasures.

On Friday we drove to Seattle to attend the Temple Sealing of Hannaj Cantrell (one of our missionaries from Kazakhstan).  A bunch of photos follow.

Our first time in 30 years stopping at the Almond Rocca factory in Tacoma.

Pike Street Market and a Chinese Café for lunch

Queen Ann's Park where the Space Needle and monorail and other attractions are located.

Kid's park

Dinner afterwards

Jude was baptized Saturday evening.  Our family made up the entire "congregation".

We did our first Find A Grave photos in months.

Sunday was Father's Day.  Jessica and Bev put on a perfect summer picnic dinner - chicken-potato salad-watermelon-pie- deviled eggs, etc.  I gave Dad five shirts to replace the ones he has that are worn on the collar.  Bev and Jessica gave him a rechargeable work lamp.  Warren gave him a new wallet...I can hardly wait until I wash it along with other dirty clothes.

 Oregon City, Oregon - Week 23 - June 7 to June 13, 2021

It was a good productive week working in the woods.  Magnus and Archer are now experienced and easily and expertly gathered branches, bundled them up, and towed them to the burn pile.  I could have done all the work by myself, but it would haver taken three times as long.   I really appreciate their help!!!!

In the creek bed right at the tip of Sector 4, a humongous maple limb had fallen right smack dab into the creek.  I thought it would be horribly difficult to get it out, but turned out it wasn't too difficult.  We cut it into manageable sections, and the boys roped them out.

Magnus was very proud of his mud smear on his jacket

We also worked in Salmonberry Gulch which was really difficult because of the steepness of the sides and the muddy bog.  The boys were great workers.  Here they are way down at the bottom

Burning is the most desirable job

One afternoon I said to myself, "you have to move the rounds from Mr. Majestic's broken limb."

And now the ATV trail - and the bike trail - is clear again

I've started working in the West Sector - specifically on Water Pipe Slope

I got the burn pile started and have just been doggedly pulling sections of logs and branches downhill the the fiery pit.

One day I parked the ATV in this spot to get a photo from another direction.

The very next day a tree snag had fallen right where the ATV had been parked!!!

No problem  The chain saw and I won the battle, and that snag became a form of energy.

I showed Magnus where the Brunners had dumped a large amount of trash - mostly bottles and cans.  I had been at the spot earlyier in the winter.  But then the ice storm came, and a tree, which unfortunately had grown right on top of the pile of cans and bottles, had a very weak root system and toppled over exposing a root ball with cans and jars as decorations.

Magnus brought back two white buckets full of treasures......

We went to Saturday Market, mostly because Magnus has such fond memories of having gone before- - -although I don't ever remember going there in the summer.  So with just two texts to notify others, we had a total of twelve cousins who wanted to go too.

The rain didn't stop Magnus from enjoying the hot tub.

This is a good photo of the the Tres Nerfs -
