Oregon City, Oregon - Week 41 - October 8- October 14, 2018

It's October - which means it is time to go to Bauman's Farm for our annual Fall Festival Frivolity.  Bauman's Farm is about an hour south of Oregon City which has turned their 'working farm' into a farm wonderland.  There is a corn maze and humongous pumpkin patch, all kinds of plants and fresh food for sale, rides and fun activities for kids - it's great fun and was especially so this year, because the weather was warm and there was no rain.

The food is yummy
I am trying their famous apple cider doughnuts

Jessica is being fed yumminess by Bev.  It might be an apple cider float.

Janey does not want to be left out.

One large greenhouse is turned into a dark maze with partitions made of bales of hay and also chipboard panels.  Some places it is really dark, but Camille and Tyler had gone thorough it several times and knew the way.

Camille and Tyler loved this climbing wall and way too many pictures are posted but they had some much fun being creative that I have included all of them.

Another day...and another fall festival...this time in Hood River.  This one wasn't the super kid friendly place.  There were better places to eat and some booths selling 'artistic wares'.

Val and Lori Glenn went with us - it was fun to have them join our throng.

One of the booths had long thin leather strips with beads attached.  They made a clever way to put the girls hair into pony-like tails

Warren and Whitney are busily working on their yard and want to make big changes.  One was to move a utility building.  It had been place, pretty much, in the middle of their side yard - like where a delivery truck could easily back into and them plop down. the building.   Warren wanted to move up up close to the house so it wouldn't look like a building that had been plopped in the front yard.  The problem was that he wanted to move it uphill.  So, Dad talked to Val Glenn who is a very clever guy.  Val looked at the 'job' and say, "yeah, we can do that."

The next Saturday there was a 'shed moving work party', and the job was done.  Fortunately Val and Travis knew what they were doing.

This week I also started a new hobby.  I decided that I wanted to learn how to play the classical guitar.  I did some research and found the one I wanted on Amazon.  It is a Cordoba GK Studio Limited Edition.  I am having a lot of fun learning how to play it.  Eventually, I will want some private lessons.

About a year ago our stake underwent a BIG ward splitting event.  There were five wards, and people were moved around to make four wards.  For us in the Oregon City First Ward, it was a difficult change - because we'd had a stabile ward for a long time and lots of long time friends.  Since the reorganization, there is a pot luck dinner on the first Sunday of the month.  We went to the one being hosted by the Black family.  It was fun to see old friends.
