Woo Hoo - There was no school on Monday, Scoot kids, Bev and kids, Whitney and kid, and Ray and I went to The Dalles to visit the Discovery Museum of the Columbia River ( or something like that). We've been to it before with grandchildren, and it is such a good museum that it seemed like a good idea to go there again with parents.

The museum has great displays about the Columbia River, geology, Native Americans, the history of the building of the Scenic CR Highway, Wasco County (which is really good because....really,...no one knows anything about Wasco County). But the best part is the interactive children's room which is where everyone went after finishing the treasure hunt of finding different displays.
Jude tried to measure up to the eagle.

And decided he made a better owl.

There is a barge (in apparent dry dock) which can be loaded with a cargo of wooden blocks. It is nearly impossible to be successful--even an adult has a hard time with it.

More shopping for clothes.

The cave man style is particularity attractive on Logan.

And......whatever Holland wants to do....

There is a great Lewis and Clark exhibit, and the kids loved the canoe....which did not have a "Do Not Touch" sign - at leazxt we didn't see one.

A fraction of a moment after this photo was taken, we learned why Lewis and Clark didn't take any babies in the canoe - Whitney had to do some fancy life-guarding moves for little Holland - no CPR was required.

Wednesday for Webelos Scouts we went to the Fire Station across from the library where the Public Education Specialist, Tammy Owen, instructed us on how to do Hands Only CPR. In this style only chest compression is done - no mouth to mouth. There are two steps to this method - call 911 and do chest compression until relieved by a trained EMT. The scouts seemed to like the activity and were relatively well behaved and attentive.

On Friday Dad attacked the blackberries with the Up-rooter Tool and "caught" this one. It was a big as his wrist.
The grand-kids assisted by running around in the garden enjoying the good weather.
Wednesday night to celebrate Paul's birthday, we went to Cheescake Factory.

Paul is enjoying his complementary ice cream sundae.

Saturday I cleaned out the old shed more. Abby came over and got to help. Here she is going through the debris I scraped off the floor to separate metal from dirt and so forth. She actually was a good helper and very enthusiast. Maybe she should study recycling engineering.

Saturday was also a swim meet for Shelby and, happily, it as in Oregon City. She had three races - 200 meter free style, 100 meter breaststroke and 100 backstroke. The backstroke is her best stroke, and she had a PR which ws 14 seconds faster than her previous time.

Here she is starting the 200 meter freestyle.

SSunday night was the Sunday Night Celebration for Paul's birthday.

Another good week passes into the annals of history!
I have been to the Discovery Museum; it's very good. I recognize the bike in the shed. Where is the Cheesecake Factory?
