Oregon City, Oregon - Week 14 - April 1 - April 7, 2019

We were busy this week - mostly burning.  We're cleaning up a lot of debris that has accumulated over the years, and also lots of trees and bushes that are growing on the western fence line.  Jude is a great helper!  Unfortunately, there is an infinite amount of cleaning up to do.

Boogie does his part too.

A fitting end to a seedling holly tree that was, no doubt, disseminated by a bird.

We planted these Ponderosa Pines about five years ago.  They were about two feet tall and now tower over Camille.  She is in front of the tree she named "Ponder".

We (Kim, Bev, Jessica, Olga, and Charlotte) won a spot on the lottery for hiking the Enchantments - we got a permit to hike the Colchuck Zone for four days during August!!  We are so excited!!!  We're planing for a group of eight.  Jessica, is so excited that we had to go to REI to find a backpack that will make her stronger and faster (of course, the pack that she has now weighs five pounds plus).  She found a Deuter pack that is about 3.5 pounds.

Ruby and Janie are beginning to enjoy the hot tub.  Ruby finally goes in by herself and sits on the highest seat.

We are going to drive the truck to Oakley Idaho in about two weeks to attend Sister Critchfield's Homecoming.  To prepare, we got new all terrain tires and an oil change which we did ourselves in the pit up at Goodin Acres....most Travis did it.

We went to see the Broadway production of "Aladdin" at the Keller Auditorium.  It was a full house - really filled with little and big girls who were looking for their prince.  It was almost as fun watching the 20-something girls in front of us who knew all the songs and all the jokes and were thrilled.

I got to sit between Abby and Logan who loved everything.  Logan, especially was entranced.  They loved the music, the dancing, the story, the sparkles, and especially the Genie.  I loved it too - the dancing was amazing (how can they dance so vigorously and sing at the same time), but the music was so loud that my ears hurt.  Also, I knew ahead of time that Aladdin would get his princess.

The Production was holding a fundraiser in the lobby afterwards, and cast members, in costumes, were collecting money in red buckets and posing with adoring audience participants.

Saturday and Sunday was General Conference.  We all fell for the "rumor mill" and fully expected some more life changing announcements.  The only thing out of the ordinary was that new temples were announced.  It was interesting how President Nelson presented the announcement.  He started by saying that temples are sacred places, and we should be respectful and refined when talking about temples.  He then went on to say he was going to announce the new temples, and would "you please not shout out with excitement."  Well, that applied to almost everyone, but in our own living room we gave a big gasp when a new temple in Budapest was announced.

After the Saturday evening session we (Scots, Louthans, Isoms, M Grays, and the two of us)went to dinner at the Redland Cafe.

The Saturday night special was Prime Rib.  One order is enough for two.
