Oregon City, Oregon - Week 44 - October 26 - November 1, 2020
Really, most of the week I spent working in the woods. The weather was absolutely beautiful and perfect for being in the woods. Paradoxically, the first burn day of the week was on Friday when it rained during the morning. But when the weather was good, I just kept pull up filbert limbs and strategically placing them around the burn pile.
I need to remember all these photos so when I am older, I can reminisce about the experience.
Here I am standing in Sector 5 with Main Creek in the foreground and Sector 1 on the far side. I can vividly remember when I crept thorough this area with the sprayer delivering herbicide to ivy leaves. Later I hand cut all the salmonberry bushes and pulled them out of the woods.
Here I am standing in Sector 1 looking down Main Creek towards Malcolm's Bridge. This area was totally impassable, but now I can drive the ATV right up from the bridge.
I'm in Sector 1 looking up the hill into Sector 5. There used to be a huge filbert tree with long overhanging branches that had rooted in the ground....it was horrible! Now I can drive the ATV up the hill and onto the "road" that goes up to the hay field.
To "finish" Sector 5 I had to remove three big filbert bushes. Here is a before:
And the after
