 Oregon City, Oregon - Week 44 - October 26 - November 1, 2020

Really, most of the week I spent working in the woods.  The weather was absolutely beautiful and perfect for being in the woods.  Paradoxically, the first burn day of the week was on Friday when it rained during the morning.  But when the weather was good, I just kept pull up filbert limbs and strategically placing them around the burn pile.

I need to remember all these photos so when I am older, I can reminisce about the experience.

Here I am  standing in Sector 5 with Main Creek in the foreground and Sector 1 on the far side. I can vividly remember when I crept thorough this area with the sprayer delivering herbicide to ivy leaves.  Later I hand cut all the salmonberry bushes and pulled them out of the woods.

Here I am standing in Sector 1 looking down Main Creek towards Malcolm's Bridge.  This area was totally impassable, but now I can drive the ATV right up from the bridge.

I'm in Sector 1 looking up the hill into Sector 5.  There used to be a huge filbert tree with long overhanging branches that had rooted in the ground....it was horrible!  Now I can drive the ATV up the hill and onto the "road" that goes up to the hay field.

To "finish" Sector 5 I had to remove three big filbert bushes.  Here is a before:

We went to the cemetery and photographed three grave monuments.

And the after

School went well.  Kindergarten and Grade 2 have started Life Science.  Abby and Jude learned about pollination, and they both made a honey bee which searched for pollen in a cupcake liner flower and gathered that pollen (from red sprinkles) on their foreheads.

Sunday evening Dad, Jude, and Abby performed their Readers Theater for Three...it is something we do during the week for  Reading Class.  It was about a Lion Tamer and the Lion.

We also celebrated Abby's eighth birthday with a "Barbie Cake" made by, of course, Warren.

It is definitely fall at The Manor.

Next week my goal is to "finish" Sector 4 where there are still a few filberts which await my chainsaw.
Halloween was on Saturday and all the "Littles" cae to our door.
