Week 7 - Oregon City - February 13- February 19 2023

The best thing that happened to me this week is that I got a new, different style boot with inflatable air bags!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11.. I went from being tortured to lounging in peace. I have a small callus on the outside of my little toe. The way the original boot was worn, there was a metal loop right at the point of my callus. It was so painful - like I was getting an electric shock constantly. Finally I could stand it no longer. I called the Podiatry Advice Nurse who said, come in, go to reception, tell them you need to go to the cast room, and you'll be taken care of. And I was. The cast guy thought of different options and then gave me this boot!!!! It fits sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better. Fortunately I only used the first for a week and a halt. Now I just have three weeks to go.

I had another appointment with Dr Koo who is the thyroid eye disease guru. He said, "look right at me." I did and noticed that his right eye was a bit larger than his left eye. Then he said that my left eye lid did droop a bit, but on the scale of 1-10, the droop was at about a 1/2. The surgery would be an hour and a half, I'd have to wear a patch for three days, and maybe I wouldn't even see a difference in the long run. I said to him, "your right eye is bigger that the left one". His reply was that "most faces are not perfectly symmetrical." I chose not to get the surgery for the lid. The doctor who did the muscle surgery had told me, "oh, yes, I can fix it!"

We went to Corvallis for the gymnastics meet with Univ of Arizona. We were expected to win - which we did. The best part was that Jade scored two 10's....in the vault and on the floor. When her score showed up there was roar of approval, joy, and everything else that is good. Whoever may have said that it isn't such a big thing to win, probably did not win.
