Week 10 - Oregon City - March 3 - March 9, 2025
Woods and Cats - AGAIN!
Dad took the weed whacker and rimmed all of the dried tall plants along the edger of the woods - it's like trimming a guys hair over the ears. Only Dad and I notice this - but we love it.
Here are my tools for scrapping of bed straw - a nasty invasive weed.
On Friday when Jude had or school, he came and helped split wood. It was so nice for us.
A big rain and wind storm blew off a big branch from a Doug Fir in Sector 5. I pulled up the big branches for fire wood and left the smaller stuff. This is what was left to clean up.
Warren and his kids came over and picked up branches and Warren used the shears to cut them up into more manageable pieces.
I was working near Salmonberry gulch (between Sector 4 and Sector 5) when I discovered a Sitka Spruce seedling!!!! ;I was so excited until I realized that there are no spruce trees in the woods that could have shed any seeds.....and finally I remembered that I had planted this one which I'd gotten from the Tree Fair. Oh well....almost had a natural native.
Back in the BIG wind storm in 2020 or 2021 or 2022 (honestly, I don't remember), a big maple branch fell off a bigger maple tree. even since the event, I have agonized about the branch. This was the week...Dad cut it up into 44-inch lengths and I pulled it up to the splitter.
In a week or so the split pieces will be in the basement.
