Electronics partly solved - Dad bought an hour's worth of wifi so I can send this post. We can charge our phones as we travel but it s very slow and we have to juggle cords. Also - we don't have the K to US adapter as it is in the lost suitcase and an adapter we bought today doesn't work in our situation. Sigh - first world problems....electronics
Up and away early morning. Our goal was Huntley which is very near Insch and Oyne which is where Dad wants to visit. The towns are places where some of Dad's ancestors lived in the 17th and 18 centuries. We will walk around, find the cemetery, maybe take photos of gravestones for Million Graves, and wait to "feel the vibes" of ancestors.
This is what the countryside looked like. It is in the southern part of the Cairngorm mountains where there are ski resorts. Wide open country, lots of sheep, lots of pink flowering heather
There are a bunch of caches too -
We came to Braemar and guess what, this was on my itinerary...Braemar Castle
I was hesitant to "do" a castle because we've done a lot of them. But this one was cool. It was built in 1628 and was occupied by lairds (Scottish clan chiefs), soldiers, sub royalty, rich people. Now it is owned by the people of Braemar (one pound a year for 50 years)
We could sit and touch. The local guide was really good.
A potty chair some officer took to the Crimean War
These are for you Malcolm
Then we drove on the Highlands Tourist Route. Very beautiful. Looks like Oregon except for all the heather which doesn't show up in the photo because of the rain and an amateur photographer
We drove through this town. It looked like a movie set.
And dinner was Fish and Chips again
I just know we'll get the suitcase tomorrow.
