#31-Walking the Camino-May 22, 2016

The 29th day of walking
de Mato-Casanova a Melide
Book - 6.65 miles
Map My Walk - 6.43 miles, 3 1/ hours
Fitbit - 19,995 steps, 6.7 miles

Today I am thankful that I was able to republish #29 which was two days ago. I know you all are thankful too because your silage education is complete.
My good deed for the day was that I thought long enough about #29 that I figured out how to redo it....and that I had the time to redo it for you. Is that a "good" deed?

Remember yesterday, that we had been given a ride to our albergue. Well...we kinda expected that we would be given a ride back to our pick up point. Uhhh, no. In the best possible Spanish sign language and excellent charade language we were told to go out the driveway, curve wwwwaaayyyyyy around that way until you come to a S-T-O-P sign (hand flat facing you) and go izquierda and soon it will be Camino. Wouldn't a small printed map be easier?  We did make it successfully. We later met the Aussie siblings who said they tried to walk that way but were confronted by four angry big nasty barking dogs, and they went back to the alberge and took the long way back to the Camino. Here are white arrows leading out of drive. Turns out there were white arrows leading most of the way

This is for Jessica. Remember at Aspen Grove where the bathroom door couldn't open because the toilet was in the way?
Well, it happens in Galicia too.

Nice quiet trail most of the way like you're walking from our house to the Redland Cafe.

Baby corn sprouting

New flower - Asphodelus alba- a lily

Came to a little hamlet where we bought some fruit and some sort of donut like smackeral. It was not good. Tossed away

We discovered that Jenny N was on the Camino too.

We saw two cute cats to make Warren happy and as we were just ready to take the photo, a third cat did a classic photobomb.

You've heard about following the yellow brick road to get to Oz?  In this part of Galicia small sections of a white brick road showed us the way.

We found this interesting piece of farm equipment on the side of the road. We think Larry N will know what it is.

Two nifty medieval bridges. These are really popular photographic stops. Almost all peregrinos cause traffic jams- including us.

Here is the Iglesias de Juan. I love the foundation stones at the base of the walls.

We entered Melide. It's a pretty big town for being on the Camino- pop 7824. It's a bit tricky to find your alberge in cities so we always have to ask several passers by. There it is!

Our accommodations and patio/balcony views.

Look at this little bathroom. It has a mini bathtub.

We're a little worried about the sink. We've heard massive gurgling and now there is some liquid on the floor. We'll have to be careful in the darkness tonight.

Lunch

While dad was elevating his toes I went for a walk around town.  It's  Sunday and most everything but cafes/bars/restaurants are closed. Lots of senior citizens (senores mejores) sitting on park benches. Little kids playing on play structures. I found a panaderia and brought some back to Dad.

Yummy way to end the day
