Oregon City, Oregon - Week 32 - August 5 - August 11, 2019

This is the week that Jessica and Bev went hiking in The Enchantments....and we got to be with their six children during the week.

The days started like this...breakfast.

The first day Paul brought them over to our house as he left for work.  Then we devised a better plan.  Dad went to Bev's house, and as the children arose from their beds, he'd have them dress and then send them on their bikes to our house.  Pancakes, steel cut oats, waffles, toast, eggs ...for the week.

Each day we did some sort of activity - in addition to hanging out at the house.

Monday - we went to the Canemah Community Park which is such a nice quiet park.  And Warren found us on Find My Friends, and he came too.

Tuesday - after Paul got home from work, we visited the Baker Pioneer Cabin which is near the Carver Boat Landing.  I'd know about this place for years and had wanted to make a 'reservation' to visit it and get a guided tour.  We were not disappointed and learned  a great deal of pioneer Clackamas County history.  We stated out listing to our guide's presentation in the Pioneer Church which had been moved here from its original location near the Logan School.  Then we moved to the Cabin which had been built in 1846 and was the first house in Clackamas County.  It was a great evening.  Turned out that our guide, Gary, was someone Dad had known years ago when he (Gary) had been a horticultural sales rep.

It has an interesting second floor which hangs out over the first floor which creats a covered porch.  There is an outside staircase which goes to the second floor.

There is a big outbuilding which has a mud wagon (called this because it has big wheels chich can still roll in deep mus) and a milk churn.

Even though there was a sign on the wagon saying "Do NO Climb On" our guide let the children freely clamor onto it.

Wednesday - I made a new supply of home made laundry detergent, went to ACA to turn in Logan's registration papers, and then to a kids concert at the Library Park.

There was a lot of fun music and clapping and singing.

Thursday - we went to the park In Sandy (near Joe's Donut Shop) which has a fantastic play structure.

The kids ran and jumped and climbed and crawled - Perfect.

Thursday evening our friends from Kazakhstan, The Taylors, were visiting us, and we went to the Redland Cafe for dinner.

Friday we took the kids to the Sahallie Illahee Park in West Linn which has a great slide.

Saturday -  with the help of Travis and Warren, we replaced all of the wires and supporting boards on the area over the deck.  We'll soon be getting new shade cloth to cover the area.

Sunday morning after Stake Conference we used the van to deliver Warren's five cakes to the County Fair.  I think he will take a blue ribbon on all of his entries!!

We had a great week with the six grandchildren - exhausting, yes - but a lot of fun.

Clara likes broccoli

Ruby did some creative construction with the cushions.

Dad finished taking all the screws out of the old deck boards.
