Oregon City, Oregon - Week 48 - December 2 - December 8, 2019

What would our week be like if we were not cleaning up outside?
This week we finished the grapes....not only did we clip and train, rake up and load trailer, but we burned the trimmings too!

Our buddy, Logan was a pro with the rake...and Warren helped too.

Then there were the boysenberries which have looked 'sorry' for years.  We couldn't even find any good canes to tie up.  We both think that the boysenberries had departed to berry heaven, and an invasive blackberry army had infiltrated and taken over the area.  There was no choice - we dug them out!

Then pulled them out and away

All cleaned up and tidy!

Earlier in the spring, Warren had purchased a new and highly developed berry plant with all the "goodness and flavor of the Marionberry, but thornless.....and with bigger and more robust fruit".  Who can resist this? We've decided to buy seven new plants for a 52nd anniversary present to ourselves.

Warren and Dad went on a wreath making spree; they gathered all sorts of greenery by just walking along the edge of the canyon.  I think they made seven - Bev and Jess had already purchased some from COSTCO.

Jude was Super Helper, as usual.  And then, he discovered the potted lemon tree dripping with lemons. He loves squeezing lemons (or limes) almost more than anything.

There was no school on Monday, and Abby spent the morning with us.  This morning she was the writer and illustrator of a book telling how she and Michael wwent into a cave and discovered a "forbidden treasure".  I suggested that she may grow up and be a writer, but she said, "No, I am going to be a singer."

Saturday night was when Whitney played the piano at the annual Christmas concerts held at the Temple Visitor's Center.  This was the same event where, a year previously, Warren and Whitney played Christmas duets.  This year Whitney included a ten-year-old whose father works at the PT place in Salem where she worked.  The music was great;  I spent the whole time holding the phone and face-timing her mom, Shawny, who i in Kansas.

Camille played in Sacrament meeting - Oh Come, Oh Come, Emanuel which is one of the pieces
W&W played last year.  It is a difficult piece and Camille handled it magnificently.

Warren and I are double teaming Holland in the Nursery.  We both got to the room early and then Warren left in a silent moment.  Holland and I had a pretty good time.  She likes bubbles!  She had two massive crying incidents but then three good times where she played.

I send Evan a Mystery picture each week which he has to identify.  So far, it's been fun.  This week it is Ruby in the hot tub.

I've been traveling to Seattle each week with my friend, Vannessah, so she has a companion at her chemo treatments.  I only took this photo to show how cold her cold caps get...and it was kinda pretty, in it's coldness.  Looks like my mink hat that I bought in Kaz, only this one has white "fur".

After my cataract surgery.  Amazingly, I see really well now.  I'll need reading glasses, but so do most people who have had cataract surgery.
