The beginning of Spring!

And the "beginning of Spring" marked the "end" of trimming the fruit trees. Even Janie helped out.

The last fig tree was the monster. Neither Dad nor I could ever remember having trimmed this monster...perhaps the cows had nibbled the branches to the ground, but that was beyond our recollection. Yes - this was a big one!!

I hauled many branches to the burn pile

Dad was persistent

There was one big fat branch left in the middle that we needed to pull out....but how? The idea was to tie a rope to it and then use the ATV to pull it out and away. Dad proceeded up the ladder to the perfect place to tie the rope.....when.....oops.....the branch fell the opposite direction and almost took Dad with it. Well - the ladder and the fallen branch knocked out three young branches that we wanted to save and use to rejuvenate the tree.

We had to cut our was through the branches to get to the one branch we could save. Got a rope on it, crawled up the ladder again, and gently pulled it into place

As long as there isn't a strong wind for the next three months, the branch may survive. We'll be able to keep a close watch on it while we are cleaning up the massive mass of branches.

This was also the week that the Senate voted on the impeachment of Donald Trump. As everyone had surmised, the Senate voted on party lines and Trump was acquitted. On the First Article of Impeachment, the only Republican Senator who voted how he believed (rather than how much damage Trump would heap on him or her) was Mitt Romney. The vote was 52 to 48.

On the Second Article the vote was 53 to 47
Friday a bunch of us went to see the Broadway production of "Dear Evan Hansen". Went out to dinner first at Pastini on Division. Good, but expensive, food.

Then on to Keller Auditorium. This is what I wrote in my Gratitude Journal, "I'm glad I went; glad I was included; interesting musical; subject matter very disturbing - suicide, mental illness, lies and lying, dysfunctional families, insecurities....and love and reconciliation.

I like pictures of feet. This is a ground down version of the callus that was causing Dad grief. I think we know how to control it to get rid of the pain it causes.

I went to see Dr Andrea Payne-Osterland. She is a DO who also does manipulations. I went to her to see if she could move my pelvis so I don't have the jarring pains in my left lower back. She pushed and pulled, and I think it worked.............so far I've had no recurring events. I also have about a half hour of stretching exercises I need to do twice a day.
Abby is lounging away the afternoon

We had the first Ward Family History Workshop with a potluck dessert on Feb 8. It went really well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We didn't know what to expect, but the even exceeded our wildest expectations. There were about 75 people total. There were about 15 or 16 table set up with a FHC at each table helping some one or someones.
Tomorrow we head south for three weeks to visit Death Valley, the Taylors in Arizona, and end up in Utah for the Roots Tech Conference..
Oh - this week we also made the decision on the destination of our excursion to the Alps this coming June. We're going to do the Ratikon Hohenweg Tour..............unless, of course, Bev comes up with another idea.
