This was a big birthday week!! First was Clay, who turned 26, and his mother was in town for the festivities.
(Clay's mom is holding Copeland)
Then, just two days later we had another celebration for Evan and Jude's birthdays...whew! Warren created a Geode Cake for the occasion.
The Utah Boys were a big help during the week. Archer used his balance and stretching skills to realign our shade cloth.
Not to be undone, Bjorn showed off his skill at replacing seven of our screens, that over the years had become ratty and torn,
Our clearing of holly and filberts continued - at a frantic pace because the burn season was going to end the first of the week. Magnus was a good scrambler as he went up and down the slope taking the end of the rope to Dad.
Archer, at one point, took my place by dragging downed holly to the burn pile.
Our last big effort in the woods was to remove the most humongous holly that was on the border between Sector 2 and Sector 3. Here it is with Dad just a tiny person at the bottom
Then we yelled "timber"!!!!! And it was down---the cut off stumps prove it.
It took half a day to clean up the remains of the holly tree - after the four big trunks had been hauled to the burn pile. Here is a photo of the cleared out area from two sides of the woods.
Magnus had fun frolicing on the fallen tree trunk that we had uncovered.
I found this beautiful creature crawling up a cedar tree- there were three of them on the trunk.
Some nice grandchildren photos
