Alder Flat - Week 27 - July 6 - July 12, 2020

Clara and Gretchen's birthday present this year was an overnight trip to Alder Flat.  Dolores went with us to spend the night and W,W, H & C came with us to spend the first day.

My tent in the background was in the same place where the Scott family was sleeping the night the tree fell down amongst us.

Smores the first night!

Sleeping in the tent.  Gretchen decided to use her pad as a blanket.

Clara did a bit better.

We had breakfast on the clearing by the river.

Then we went up river exploring.

Then on to bigger rocks

After  lunch the girls explored the pool which became very exciting once they discovered the salamanders.

Nice flowers along the river

I love Alder Flat - I love Clara and Gretchen - We had a great time.

Wednesday Olga, Whitney, and I hiked the Paradise Park Trail again - for training purposes.  The weather was perfect, the trail was the same - the difference was that I was not sore the next day.  Without the clouds and rain it was possible to view through the trees.  This was the best photo - Hwy 26 in the distance.  We never saw Mt Hood---maybe because we were too close to it...like on the side of it.

When I got home after the hike there was a Young Women's service project in the works.  They had come over to throw wood into the basement, and then some wood even got stacked.  Wow - what great help.

Warren called on Friday and said, "Wanna go to the beach?"  And so we did.  Fish and Chips!  Ice cream!

Warren looks like a superhero with an orange cape

Setting up the sun tent proved challenging - but the engineer and his dad prevailed

Warren set me up for this photo.

I have finished removing ivy in Sector 4.  This maple was a challenge!

Evan will be returning to his mission - leaving on August 14th.  He's going to the Lansing Michigan Mission which will be quite different from the Buenos Aries Mission.  He'll experience the best of both.

The Enchantments next week!
