Week 31 - OBSIDIAN - August 1-August 4, 2022
Monday- We left Oregon City at 6:30 in order to get an early start on the hike and try to avoid the heat of the day.
Lunch
The lava field and first sight of North and Middle Sister
The end of the lava and the Whitewater River meadow in the distance.
Crossing the creek
Beginning the last steep mile before our campsite at Sunshine.
Sunshine in view!
Bev and Melissa's
Jen's and Mikayla's and Jessica's
Sunset Monday night.
TUESDAY
I watched as the morning sun crept down into the meadow.
All ready for the day, we headed south on the PCT toward Obsidian Falls.
Looking down from the top of the falls
and...the falls from the bottom
We basked in the sun for several hours.....had a "through hiker" who was having a "mental event" stop by asking for directions....then it was time to head back to camp.
WEDNESDAY - our goal was to reach Arrowhead Lake which is up on top of a big bluff which was somewhat difficult to get to. We aptly named the area Edge of Perfection - - a twin to Edge of Paradise at Mt Jefferson.
Now we really started to go up higher
And over the top!
Arrowhead Lake
We read our books for a couple of hours
Right on the "Edge of Perfection". The green foliage is the edge, the PTC is the trail in the distance.
And then...it was time to go back to camp.
THURSDAY - last photos of us in Sunshine Meadow. So beautiful.
So sad to leave.
Lunch in Mill City at the Grill
We celebrated Haley's birthday on Sunday
