20. It really was hot the first part of The week - a heat dome in Oregon.....not fun weather for visiting the fair. Warren and Whitney and mom, Shawny, and Dad made a lot of things for the fair. Monday was the day to enter floral and veggies/fruits. We took Ruby and Jane, Holland and Coper to play while entering the floral treasures. ....
Dad won BEST HYDRANGEA, and the premium was $30.00. The sad thing is, he doesn't know which hydrangea it was that was so glorious.
It was so hot on Tuesday, that I just found a piece of shade and became a hot blob - - I did buy a lemonade slurpee that had refills at half price. Wednesday was just as hot - Dad and I didn't even go. Warren and Whitney and Dad entered something every day and had a great time. Saturday was Men's Chocolate Cake day - Dad, Ryan, Warren, Tyler, Evan, and Bjorn all entered cakes and, also, got in free because of it.
On Thursday, Travis, Gretchen, Clara, and I went to The Salmon River outside of Welches for their birthday backpacking trip.
First stop was Joe's Donuts, as usual.
Classic photo at the trailhead
When we got to our secret, hidden, riverside spot, we could see that some idiot wazoos had built a fire pit right in the middle of the only place where a tent could be pitched. Travis moved all of those big rocks out of the way.
I could see, right away, that something was different.....see this big cedar stump. It wasn't a stump a month ago.
Fortunately the tree fell across the river and not in our spot.
The girls and Travis made cairns on the rocks in the river
Around the campsite photos.
On Friday we went on a day hike...up the trail to the two bridges
