Week 45 - November 6 - November 12, 2023
Definitely more autumn weather this week. Dad has been blowing leavers everyday - sometimes twice a day to keep up with those pesky maple leaves. The forest floor is almost completely covered by yellow leaves.
"Baby kitties" on a walk in the woods and leaves. They seemed to like it and would lag behind me and then race ahead.
We spent a lot of time cleaning this week - getting ready for the Utah Grays to come for Thanksgiving. Did a super "deep cleaning" in the bedrooms upstairs.
We sold the little trailer I bought years ago It just wasn't big enough and didn't "trail" very well when I got off road and into the woods. I sold it on Facebook Marketplace. Here's a photo I used showing how many gallon buckets would fit on it.
For Activity Day this week we made greeting cards by doing rubbings of leaves. It was kind of neat. Some of the kids were really artistic with their work. Abby, naturally, loved it.
Bev and Jessica have been gone the entire week - to Palm Springs with a few of their "girl friends" - staying at a house (maybe a parent's ?) on the edge of a golf course. Eating, sleeping, reading, walking, shopping, talking...repeat. I helped Jude with piano all week and with his PT. Here is is on the GABO balance board/ball.
I finished the baby quilt for Jamie Gray. I chose a dog motif because Haley likes Bogey so much.
Football game on Saturday against Stanford. Stanford is not highly rated, and so we were projected to win - which we did handily. Score was 62-17. It was fun!!!! We had free tickets which were given to veterans who requested them. Not particularly good seats, but free is good. We were right in front of huge bass speakers which rumbled deep low sound through us all evening. There was an air force fly by - a huge C17-Cargomaster - that was cool.
Afterwards we went to dinner at Tommy's Bar and Grill. There was a goofy kid doing the spoon balancing act. Whitney, who said she had never bee able to do it, was successful.
I started taking guitar lessons from Stephen (at the Guitar Center) the first week in October, so I've had six lessons so far. It is, by far, one of the more difficult things I've tried to learn. Of course, I am not eleven years old with nimble fingers or 18 with a quick mind, but I have desire. I love the sound of classical guitar and enjoy playing what I have learned. I'm working on Greensleeves which I have practiced hundreds of times but still can not consistently play it well. My goal is to play it at our family Christmas recital with confidence and precision. Last week I got a new piece - Malaguena which doesn't seem tricky when one looks at it, but it's taken me a week to figure out fingerings. Sigh................
A good cat ending to the week.
