 Week 48 - Oregon City - November 27 - December 3, 2023

It's been really colddddddd the first part of the week.  The leaves have definitely fallen.  It's hard to see the hiking trail in the woods, but at least, I know where I'm going.

I'm managing the woods differently this year.  Instead of picking up fallen branches (ones that normally fall in the life of a tree), bundling them up, pulling them to a burn pile, and burning them, I am using clippers and cutting them into about 12-15 inch pieces and scattering them on the the forest floor.  It's probably a bit more work, but it is better for the health of the forest floor to have the debris decompose and make the soil healthier.

In addition to being below freezing, atmospheric rivers have covered western Oregon and there has been a lot of rain - there were were even warnings about flooding.  The cats really want to go outdoors and explore everywhere.  But....they don't like wet feet or rain or the wind, and this is as far as they go.

It's time for End of the Term Concerts and for Christmas concerts.

Here are Clara and Abby in their string orchestra concert - - but I couldn't see Abby and so no photo.

Logan is in the Guitar 1 class.

Bev and Jessica played in the Portland Choir and Orchestra concert.  It was really nice.

There was some informal practicing after dinner on Sunday.  Warren and Whitney had gotten music for O Holy Night.  Sounded pretty good even if just sightreading.

It was a good week.
