Left Burgos early in the morning - took us three miles to get out of town. Took some last photos of the cathedral cuz we'll probably never see it again
Here are a few interesting things
Four fountains
Doorknobs in center of door - pretty common.
Walls at a remodel being held apart by supports
A convenient curbside WC
We walked through parts of the University of Burgos
New Camino motifs
Big grape vine on outside of a house
It was starting to rain about lunch time so we popped into a bar. We had the best tuna sandwich ever!!
We finally made it to the Meseta. It is "dreaded by some and relished by others". The Meseta is a long flat section of wheat fields, with nothing but more wheat fields for as far as the eye can see.
Well, today we dreaded it! The weather was cold, windy, and rainy. Did I mention it was cold? And the wind was really blowing. Oh and the rain was horizontal rain. We donned our rain capes and pressed forward.
Here's Dad. And the muddy trail.
It was really miserable. Finally we came to Hornillos del Camino
We had been unable to make a reservation. Every place was completo except, you guessed it, the municipal albergue, Municipal albergues are the cheapest, most crowded, most basic, with the deadest air of all hostels. But that's all that was available, and we were glad we had a bed.
We had dinner in a restaurant across the street.
We were first ones there and sat near the rear. An American threesome came in-a man and two women- they sat down and then invited a young woman who turned out to be from South Africa to sit with them. We were totally eavesdropping because we heard them say, "we're from Salt Lake City." Then we heard the woman say she had always been really busy with her eight children. Bingo! Our first Mormons on the Camino! As we left we stopped to chat and found they had been senior missionaries in Madrid some time ago and also that he'd been mission president in Paraguay. It was really fun to chat with them.
And off we went to bed.

The food looks tasty, but those bunk beds...
