Oregon City, Oregon - Week 39 - September 30 - October 6, 2019

Evan arrived in Buenos Aires on Tuesday October 1.

Last week I forgot to to include our adventure with the "man lift" that Bev and Jessica rented.  Bev wanted to cut down dead portions of the walnut tree growing by her shed.  Jessica wanted some of her gutters cleaned, and we wanted to clean the roof of the barn.  This machine is wonderful1

This week the new mower was delivered!!!!!

This was another Grape Week - we finished doing them - 26 batches at about 6 1/2 quarts per batch equals about 169 quarts.  This is how I kept track of the batches.  After each batch, I emptied the juicer in the garden and made a design of circular blobs that looked like a Chinese suction cup massage.

The last bunch of grapes and the last jars of juice heading to the fruit room.

Our garden this year started with great excitement but kinda ended in a patch of vigorous pigweed.  Dad, with his equipment, made quick work of the area.

In the photo below, Dad is cultivating over at Beverley's.  There was a depression in the field and Dad uaws the cultivator and smoothed out the area.

Some vegetables were harvested - potatoes, carrots, and clobs of little white and orange pumpkins.

The first week of October was the beginning of the Fall burn season.  We burned the big pile of bark bits that we'd collected from the area where all of the wood was split.   I also piled on the weeds and blackberries that we'd pulled out of #1  It took several days for the pile to be reduced to ash.

Here is Bev's pile from the walnut tree trimming event

ON Friday we went to the Greek Food Festival which is in the Laurelhurst area.  It wasn't too crowded, or too loud, or too cold.  And the food was good.

For dessert we went to a doughnut shop on Fremont. - Pip's Original Doughnuts and Chai.

On our way home we drove by Dad's old home at 5218 NE Holman.  It has been severely remodeled and looks nothing like it did in the olden day.

On Thursday I went to Seattle with Vannessah.  She is beginning a new twelve week regime of chemo for her cancer.  I shall probably go with her to keep her company and bolster her spirits.

Random photos.

Camille got her braces off after three plus years.

Abby and Clara made the "best ever" train route in the living room

Janie comes to the bus stop in the morning and thoroughly loves the hot chocolate

Saturday and Sunday was General Conference.  Saturday night was the Women's Conference.  It was amazing that eight new temples were announced at this women's meeting - also the new program for the Young Womens  was announced and explained. We watched conference at home on Saturday and went to Jessica's Sunday morning for breakfast and conference.
