How to begin this week's blog? I'll start with what will be the happiest photo. Our Gravely died - drop dead died. One spindle and blade cracked off of the deck and the tractor was "totaled".

What could Dad do but look for a new one. We went to Aurora Outdoor Power, which is in Aurora which is south of Canby. They have several kinds of zero turn mowers and Dad was thinking of getting an Airens brand. But, when we walked in to the showroom, he saw a Gravely Pro 52 inch mower, and a rainbow colored shaft of light pierced the roof of the building and shone on this wonderful mower. Dad was smitten!!! It will be delivered on Wednesday October 2 - a year to the day that we returned from our mission. I hope it is not raining that day because he will need to thoroughly test the mower.

We have been harvesting our grapes and making grape juice. So far we have done 13 batches - a batch is a heaping full big metal pan creating 6 1/2 quarts of juice.

We've also started a major effort to clean out (weed mostly) the greenhouses. There are massive clumps of weeds (grass and poppies) and miscellaneous equipment that was, in the distant past, simply put into a greenhouse and then forgotten. I try to do a section between the metal support poles every day.

The shade cloth on #8, over the past few months had slipped off and had slowly spread onto the grass between the wall and the solar panels. One day Dad and I took a deep breath and determined to tidy the area up for the winter. While we were doing this I had many 'flashbacks' of pulling up the shade cloth and taking it down as a means of altering the temperature. I'm glad I don't have to do it anymore

One of our big plans was to place bark nuggets along the walls on the north and south side of our bedroom. I figured doing this would really "finish" off our deck remodel project.
