#6-Walking the Camino - April 27,2016

Pamplona to Muruzabal-Day 4 of walking
Stats:
Guide book - 12.34 mi
Map my Walk- 13.72 mi, 7 hr 15 min
Fit bit - 32,496 steps, 13.97 miles

We were soooo tired last night that we decided to sleep in. Well, Dad slept in. Result...we left one hour forty-five min later than ideal in order to get to our goal city. So we stopped 2 1/2 miles early but we can prob make it up tomorrow.
All muscles are much better. Expect total recovery by tomorrow.

Leaving Pamplona in the morning we walked through old city, new city, and campus of Navarra University. We followed metal disks with the shell symbol evgraved upon them which were embedded in the sidewalk and the pavement of the streets like this

Everything was great, yep. Until suddenly there weren't any!!  We certainly were not lost, but somewhere along the way we'd let go of the iron rod and had gone astray.  Our plan was to retrace our steps when suddenly a nice Spanish lady stopped. She said, "peregrinos?"  Well yes, obviously- two people in hiking attire with backpacks each with the scalloped shell

How embarrassing!  She pointed back the way we had come, held up two fingers, and swooped her arm to the left saying izquierda.

Here is university campus.

We spent the rest of the day walking through farm land. It was beautiful.

Fava beans (another name broad beans)

Rape seed (think canola oil)

Wait - there's a farmer in there

Beautimous vistas and oat fields

Windmills ion the ridge

Famous statues depicting a band of medieval pilgrims pressing forward against the wind. "Where the way of the wind meets the way of the stars."

And two modern ones

Over the ridge down the hill/steps

Right at the sign

Tha alberge is so nice!  I almost feel guilty.  I am not suffering. I'm pampered. And the shower was great
