I still walk every morning for at least an hour which is 3 miles. Here is Jessica's house at dawn

This week I spent a lot of time cleaning the basement and refrigerator. The challenge is to determine what is ours what is M and H's and what is W and W's. I did find the rolling pin and immersion blender....but not the small bread pans. Found the Rumba vacuum cleaner - under the bird cage. Found the glue gun. I am a domestic archaeologist
Realized that most of the stuff in the refrigerator door was not mine. Half was W & W and half was M & H.
This was Warren's which he was using for packing stuff.
Found our old queen size inflatable mattress which we hadn't been used for years. If was dirty and needed cleaning, but it inflated well and served as a pool for two mermaids.

And it worked as a place to cuddle bunnies

Jude found this rabbit skin which I've had since I was a kid - I have no idea why I have it or how I got it. But he thought it was interesting.....and pondered why he was holding it in his hands.

Oh - also found, in the basement, the large pads of paper that we'd had stored under our bed. Clara and Abby used the pads to draw mermaids - after they had practiced their strokes in the pool.

On Tuesday morning, on our morning walk, we got a phone call from Bev saying that her water heater was flamboyantly malfunctioning and was squirting water everywhere. So we became The Water Heater Mom and Dad. With the proper measurements we went to Home Depot and bought a 50 gallon heater and the necessary supplies.
Here's Dad looking at all of the possibilities.

Taaa-dahhh. the job is complete

Warren rented a machine that can be used to spread out soil and level it. He and Dad worked for hours

Not to be outdone, Whitney shoveled through huge quantities of soil and river rock and sifted out the rock. She collected nearly a half of trailer load of rock. Warren wanted to dump it into the canyon, but decided to try to give it away on Craigslist. Somebody called him, and they agreed that Warren would deliver the rock to the guy in Newberg and would get $100.00 for his efforts. The good part was that river rock is valuable, I didn't want it in the canyon, and Warren had to go to Hillsboro for a meeting and so it was close to Newberg.

Thursday night we went to Sandra and Woody Walls home for dinner. They have a Home Teaching Group or a FHE group.... or something, and we were invited to tell them all about or mission over dinner. It was fun and the menu was a turkey dinner!

On Friday Val and Lori Glenn invited us out to lunch and treated us at Stone Cliff Inn. The food was really good and service too.

Dad and I shared an elk burger.

Friday night was a swim meet for Shelby that we could actually attend. It was at Parkrose High School which was a challenge to get to on a Friday evening at rush hour.

Shelby was in four different races - two were at least a freestyle and a back stroke. She came in second in two.

She is a good swimmer and has really shone in this, her first year, of swimming. She's a sixth grader and most kids are not on the OC team at this age.
We took Clara with us and she had fun with Gretchen and Eric

Afterwards, we took Clara to Baskin Robbins
Friday evening we went to dinner at Sarah Udy's along with Jami and Adrian Beech. It was a "show us your new house" and "tell us about your mission". Also, Milo, their cockapoo was hosting.

The kids love the train set

Sunday afternoon we shot off our stomp rockets. We finally found templates on line for the pattern for the rockets. Weird - in the Webelos book stomp rockets are an activity, but no template for the rocket is in the book. It was quite fun and the rockets went quite a distance. It will be interesting to do it with the scouts in another week - will they like it? or will it be boring?
