Miscellaneous photos of grandchildren

In 2014 Dad and I hid two geocaches at Alder Flat. Recently two people were unable to find them; therefore we needed to return to Alder Flat and repair and replace the caches. What a better time to do this than on the Monday of Thanksgiving week

It was a beautiful day for hiking!!! We're not sure if Clara and Jude had ever been hiking before.

They even found Indian Rock - we told them is was a big rock placed over an Indian burial ground - they looked at us with skepticism.
The first geocache is downriver from the campground and up the steep hill
Here is the description and hint
Enjoy the riverside campground at the end of the trail. To the east (downriver) is a steep hill, at the top of which there is another area suitable for tenting. Be careful, little kids can slip off pretty easily. Go up the trail on the right.
Container is located in the roots at the base of a gnarly old cedar tree. River rocks cover the container.

We then hiked up river to where the little pool is alongside the river. This is where the kids sometimes played in the water. There was frost on the ground and the pool was frozen over.

The second cache is near the makeshift campground in the center of a rotten tree strum
Here is the description and hint
Near a small pool (overflow from the river) where my children used to swim. Now my grandchildren swim in it. Head upstream from Alder Flat Overlook Cache and you'll come to the pool. There is a makeshift campsite SE of the pool
There are some big cedar trees next to this campground where you think the cache should be hidden. But check out a nearby stump.

I went down by the river and just meditated for awhile. I have a great fondness for this campground and the Clackamas River in general

By the time we were ready to head back, Clara was really cold and shivering. We had her wear Jude's coat which he hadn't worn at all, and I put my big gloves over hers. By the time we got back to the car, she had warmed up. And.....we stopped at the grocery in Estacada for:......

Tuesday I had a dentist appointment to fix the tooth that had broken nearly a year ago in Astana.
Broken on December 2, 2017
Astana repair - December 5, 2017
American repair - November 20, 2018

Evan is working on Family History. I helped him one evening so he could connect his living parents to deceased ancestors

One day Dad and I loaded up a trailer full of metal and took it to the scrap metal place. It is really neat because there are big cranes with grabbers and magnets which pull the metal from your trailer and fling it up onto the top of a big pile. This grabber has hold of the two water heaters that were at Bev's.

Lots of leaves on the road by Jessica's house.

Thanksgiving was at Nancy's this year. If was a nice day. Tons of food! We met Marci's boyfriend and Alex's girlfriend for the first time. Cousin Lisa and Doron and Kaden and Sabina were there too.

And the turkey carcass re-purposed for Sunday dinner soup

Friday was the Civil War football game with Oregon. We went to the game, but with no expectations of winning. And we didn't - the score was ...like 55 to 15. But we had fun anyway.

At the beginning of the third quarter, the rain began. You could see it blowing across the field and directly into the stands where we were sitting. Warren whispered in my ear, "we're leaving at the end of the third", and we did.
We went to a Hungarian restaurant in Albany which I though was really good...but the others didn't give it a thumbs up as a place to return to.
This was a Langos - like a fried bread - this was a winner!

I got a spinach and cheese dish that was really good!!

Dad got a cabbage roll thing

Whitney had a spatzel and Alfredo sauce

Warren had paprika chicken over the potato noodles

This week marked, pretty much, the end of the "lawn event" at Warrens. Dad and Warren rented the leveler again and also a mulch spreader. They used our seeder to sow a "perfect blend of grass seed suited for the Willamette Valley". Whitney rolled the mulched over the whole area!

And then Warren hired Evan, Natalie, and Camille to plant all of the plants he has been collecting for the past several months.

And the next week they spread the bark chips

On Saturday Dad and I went with the missionaries to the church to meet up with a woman they had contacted at the public library. She expressed interest in Family History, and they, the missionaries, asked if we could meet with them and her and lend what information we could. It was interesting. I'm glad we were able to do it.
Sunday Jude came over to relax with his popcorn.
