Week 24 - Oregon City - June 9 - June 15, 2025
I love hiking n the woods and when Jack comes running up to me asking for a ride.
Bev was out of town this week - she went to Boston and took Clara. I helped a bit in the morning with piano and breakfasts. Here is Ruby with her classic French toast....whipped cream and chocolate chips.
I've seen this doe often in the woods. I don't think she is the one who had the piebald foal.
We did another trailer load of firewood.
For Activity Days we did our annual hike in the Newell Creek Canyon Park. We hiked to the waterfall and then have A&W Root Beer floats afterwards.
A big project this summer is to replace the flue pipe in our chimney. Dad took out the top part of the flue, Unfortunately the lower part remains...a project to tackle with the help of Val Glenn.
There is always a big pile of wood chips/trash left on the ground after we split a bunch of logs. I always gather it up, put the chips in buckets, and take the buckets to First Slope and spread them around.
Here is the pile of logs I pulled up from West Slope. I am cutting them to length and moving the lengths to the splitter.
This little plant is everywhere. It's easily shoulder high.
Erigeron decumbens, native to Willamette Valley. Common name is Fleabane.
Here is my nemesis - - Burdock or Cockleburr. It is so pretty......you want to save it....but you know it is evil.
On Saturday June 14, Warren, Whitney, and I participated in the No Kings Protest! It was on the same day that Trump wanted his Birthday Parade....disguised as a parade tor the US Army. There were about a thousand such protests around the country. My idea was to have a King chess piece flat on the round. Warren found this one of a finger flipping the King over. He had a poster of it, and that is what I carried. The protest was VERY popular across the country and trumps parade was really lame.
